First Friday Artwalks

Looking for something to do in Steamboat? The first Friday of every month features an artwalk in downtown Steamboat. Not only the galleries get into it - but various other businesses including restaurants and workout centers feature local artists.

You can mingle with the locals, snack, drink wine ... and maybe even buy something while you are out. This event used to only be in the warmer months, but has expanded as a year round event. We had so much fun - we met neighbors from Hahn's Peak who used to live in Laguna ... and we met "Timber," the incredible large and gentle canine over at Wild Horse Gallery.

Every restaurant was crowded ... and we had no reservations. But we ended our date night by wandering down Yampa to Aurum. The large bar area would fit into any urban environment, and we snagged a seat immediately next to the fireplace. With a Frog's Leap Zin and some small plates? Our evening was complete. Be sure to try the crispy cauliflower. Outstanding! Local hint - if you get there between 4:30 and 6? The bar menu is half price. We didn't ... but it was still worth it.
