Leading with care and integrity

Owner Kathie Jacobsen has been a dedicated volunteer her entire life. She has served the San Diego Symphony, Southern California Outrigger Canoe Association, American Saddlebred Horse and Breeders’ Association, Professional Ski Instructors Association and many others in volunteer and volunteer leadership positions. She firmly believes in giving back and was recognized in the local Steamboat newspaper, The Steamboat Pilot, as a frontline hero. This was a special feature that focused on those who stepped up and made a difference in the community and to the local economy during the pandemic.

Kathie was highlighted for her work with all of the local wedding venues in order to bring recognition from the city and county as to the importance of weddings to the local economy. For those of you who had weddings in 2020, as well as those who were delayed, Kathie's patience in interpreting guidelines while still holding memorable, dream weddings here was pretty remarkable. You can read her feature here.

Additionally, Kathie is the recipient of the United States Equestrian Federation / EQUUS Pegasus Award as Humanitarian of the Year and has appeared at the World Equestrian Games as well as in the Rose Parade and our own Steamboat Springs 4th of July parade. Her many trophies, including the Pegasus Award can be found in our trophy room, one of our prep areas.

Stewards of the Land

La Joya Dulce has a commitment to sustainability and the land that promotes stewardship of the environment.  We have partnered with the Colorado State Extension office in Routt County and our ranch managers, Ryan and Mandy, to be proper caretakers of the land, including livestock rotation, weed mitigation, grass seed planting, and even using environmentally conscious ice melt. Our own Share the Love décor inventory is based on the premise of recycle and repurpose. Ask us about how to make your event more environmentally friendly.
