Sturdy Arch

Our most recent couple -- Kristen and Mark Stanford (#theflanneleffect) asked to decorate their wedding arch with elk antlers. This makes perfect sense at La Joya Dulce – our ranch overlooks the beautiful Elk River Valley near Steamboat Springs. Our caretakers, Mandy and Ryan Crabb, are hunters. They graciously loaned the antlers. But antlers are heavy, and we needed a sturdy arch.

La Joya Dulce has miles of wood fencing, and our stack of fence posts has been weathering outdoors for years. Wayne found two massive six-inch by six inch beams for the legs, and a nice straight beam for the top.

We think the old, weathered wood looks perfect for a ranch wedding. Lora Reichley from Last Call Florals and Events decorated the antlers and arch. We love what she did -- the colors go so well with that old wood!

And to top it off? A rainbow appeared after the ceremony. While toasts were going on inside, Kathie was able to sneak out and capture this last shot. We think the colors of the rainbow just complements the colors of the flowers.

Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Mark Stanford - our first local couple and the reason behind our new arch!
